Prayer For a Fast Friday

Today I’m resisting. Right now I’m resisting the urge to write about not writing. Strange and wonderful aren’t I? Later I’ll resist some other pointless distractions.
Additionally I’ll twist my 1-minute drill by firing up my collection of motivation notes collected from across the Internet and spin off a few lines from each.

  • We always called it the Ice City, but the alien metal structure buried in the glacier was no more than a power plant or industrial lab. Now that it came to the end of it’s epochal journey to the sea I don’t know what we should call it. Maybe just ruins or wreck.
  • At night, colored lights of shades and intensities we could never produce decried the Monastic Island’s superiority. During the day—many days not all of them—the smells of cooked meat spiced and smoked with woods we would never know drifted across the narrow river separating us from them.
  • The the Victorian lace of her tattoo-like trimmed felt caught the sun’s light around the edges of her nude body, but darkened to a deeper red in the flat. The way her brick-red feltish fur covered her body like a well upholstered divan it was difficult to think of her as truly naked.
  • You’d have thought it fake, a trick of some fine porcelain powder or alabaster mask, if you did not already know her absolute white skin were real. Vabastaline’s thoughtless stare at first ground you like meal under a millstone, but quickly eroded to more of a troublesome nuisance than a soul rending thing it began as.
  • The red circles and pale orange bursts scratched out by hand contrast with the ledger’s machine printed rule. A strange place to find such well made conjuring. A strange conjuring to be found.
  • With happy abandon or a level of worldly obviousness unattainable by most the crayon-yellow balloon drifted up past the shoulder of the iron robot soldier.

OK. I feel better now. Sorry about lying about the new weekly plan and all my motivational deadline plans. Ha.

Day 415

Friend Gromepurkå

http://daverapoza.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/tonights-sketch/

“Friend, Gromepurkå?” Rotcher asked for the second time.  Elenin use the epithet ‘friend’ among themselves without thinking on it much.  Humans employ it as a reminder or plea.  Rotcher might have said, “Please don’t kill me, Gromepurkå.”  Gromepurkå would have translated each the same.

Our begrudging leader paused his slogging and turned.  The pouring snow seemed to relent momentarily to swirl and hover around our guide rather than to rain down.  From my third position in the line, in Rotcher’s lee, I noted the incongruity between the lacy crystals accumulating and the abrupt tusks on which they accumulated.  Our training taught us soldiers to look first to the distance between an elenin’s nostrils and brow line for mood.  Close was bad; farther, less bad.  Our aboriginal trainer menacingly pointed out the only good distance was the one from which us humans could not see an elenin at all.  I thought on this each and every time that idiot, Rotcher, opened his mouth.  Gromepurkå’s lowered brow but unflared nostrils put us in the middle trending toward bad.

“Friend, Gromepurkå, you are truly a great bull to be leading we cows.  I beg your forgiveness, but my men and I must stop to find shelter if we are to live through the night.”  Gromepurkå’s brows raised.

“This?  I am amazed.  No.  I am amused,” he stopped speaking and did nothing for a moment.  I was sure he expected something from Rotcher.  I wasn’t sure if Rotcher knew or not.  “Which is it?  Am I amazed or amused?”

“We feel both appropriate.  If you’ll forgive us our impertinence suggesting we are coming to understand our bull-guide more closely, we believe you meant amused in this case.”

Days 401/402

But First

I have to image my thoughts and reactions mirrored those of a man staring down a 72 mile an hour Peterbilt—except with less of an erection.  Everything shimmering for attention; nothing fading to the periphery.

First I notice her unnatural Cardinal-red hair; coal-black eyebrows; and gem-green eyes.  First I see her tiny areoles and upraised nipples like arrows bullseying two targets and waiting on a quiver more to be loosed.  First I stare at her asymmetrical tattoos.  Her left arm sleeve is a whirlwind of all the classics: Hula Girl, Oriental Flower, Aboriginal, and Jailhouse Knuckles—a Stabbed Heart with Mom Scroll curiously absent.  A Bald Eagle clutching a Skull descends through her cleavage and a Lotus Blossom flanked by handmaiden Roses rises womanly from her other cleavage.

But first I’m drawn to how her hips drift outward and upward then give way to her waist.  Then first I see that gentle angle mimics the slighter softer one spreading her collarbones to her shoulders.

But even before all those startled yet meandering thoughts I think her red, white, and blue starred panties seem simultaneously incongruous, because she’s Russian, and patriotic, because we’re in a DC hotel.  Then, first, I consider her not sitting in bed slender, legs bent with knees to her chin like an innocent, nor sprawled with smooth legs twined creating a focus line drawing my attention along the contoured horizon of her warm skin to her blush-pink lips and wanton smile.  Instead I first realize she stands in the bed waiting not for me to approach but waiting for her decision on when and how to attack.

I have no control here.  Every inclination I’ve considered, every consideration I’ve deliberated, every deliberation I’ve set aside she inspired in me.  This night will not end until she closes it down.
